SAN JOSÉ, CA - Today, San José Mayor Matt Mahan announced that the City and the San Jose Sports Authority have raised nearly $5 million from corporate, philanthropic, and public partners to fund concerts and activations around Silicon Valley’s historic year of major sporting events in 2026.
“From national headliners like Kehlani to watch parties at San Pedro Square, we’re going big to make sure San José residents have a chance to be a part of the action even without a ticket to the big games,” said San José Mayor Matt Mahan. “But that is only possible because so many of our hometown companies and local entrepreneurs are leaning in and giving back. They want to show the world what we know well here at home — San José is becoming a destination not just for innovation, but for activation.”
More than half a million fans from around the world are expected to travel to the Bay Area in 2026 for Super Bowl 60, three March Madness games and six World Cup matches. These funds will help San José fill its hotels, restaurants, bars, and small businesses to capture a share of the $1.4 billion in economic impact expected in the Bay Area from these major sporting events.
“Due to the generous contributions from our partners, San José residents and fans from across the region will have the chance to feel the excitement and be part of the action right here in San José when major sporting events converge to the Bay Area in 2026,” said San José City Manager Jennifer Maguire. “Our partners not only support opportunities like this, but also drive the economic vitality of our city every day. This historic moment for the region will bring exciting experiences and lasting memories for the community and visitors to our city.
San José will use these funds to host over 100 watch parties, 13 concerts with local and national headliners, 7 drone shows, and projection mapping. Many of these activations will be free for residents and visitors alike. Dollars will also go to local youth programming with Bay Area sports legends, soccer clinics in San José neighborhoods and community clean-ups. More information about upcoming activations and events can be found at sj26.org, with much still to be announced.
“We are incredibly grateful to the amazing civic-minded companies that have stepped up as San José 2026 Partners for the San Jose Sports Authority,” said John Poch, Executive Director of the San Jose Sports Authority. “Their generous contributions not only help us bring world-class sporting events to our city but also create opportunities for our residents and visitors to experience the excitement and pride that sports bring to a community. This incredible group of community champions are what truly makes San José such a special place to live, work and play. Together, we are showcasing San José as a premier destination for sports and entertainment while driving economic vitality and fostering lasting memories for everyone involved.”
San José’s 2026 sponsors — including local companies Devcon, eBay and Adobe and public sector organizations like Visit San José and the San José Mineta International Airport — recognize the economic opportunity these major events bring, and the civic pride that sports instill in communities. Fundraising is ongoing and future partners will be announced on a rolling basis.
