Mayor Matt Mahan on Tuesday released his March Budget Message outlining priorities and next steps for the City of San José’s Fiscal Year 2026–2027 budget. The annual message sets policy direction for the city’s multibillion-dollar budget and guides the development of the proposed operating budget. Following approval of the message by the San José City Council, City Manager Jennifer Maguire will develop and present a proposed budget aligned with the council’s priorities.

The City of San José today announced the graduation of a new cohort from its AI Upskilling Program – and unveiled plans to expand the training to over 1,000 employees, or roughly 15% of the city workforce, in 2026. San José Mayor Matt Mahan Invites Community to Historic Plaque Unveiling at City Hall Dec 4th

Mayor Matt Mahan and San Jose Rocks today announced a momentous celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the Grateful Dead's first performance under that iconic name. On December 4, 2025, the city will unveil a commemorative bronze plaque at San Jose City Hall above the footprint of a house which once stood on South Fifth Street. In that building, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, and Bill Kreutzmann made history on December 4, 1965, by playing their very first notes as the Grateful Dead.

San José to Host 2026 Super Bowl Opening Night

The Bay Area’s largest city will host Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday, Feb. 2, kicking off football’s biggest week at the San José McEnery Convention Center. Opening Night is the NFL’s official kickoff event, featuring all players and coaches from both teams, live entertainment, and fan activities that mark the start of Super Bowl week. It marks the second time San José has hosted the event, the first being at SAP Center for the 2016 Super Bowl.
