SARA

GARCIA

Sara is a proud San José native and the daughter of Mexican immigrants who arrived in the Valley of Heart’s Delight over 50 years ago. She has been an advocate for nearly her entire life, championing quality education, bilingual education, and school choice. Her formation at Santa Clara University cemented the pillars that guide her work every day: Competence, Conscience, and Compassion.

Sara has years of experience in political engagement, strategy, and partnership development, and her work in community advocacy began on the grassroots level with San José families. Collectively, these experiences have served as a foundation and catalyst for her accomplishments in public policy. Prior to moving to Mayor Mahan's office, she served as his Council Policy and Legislative Director at the District 10 office.
